'B0' is hexadecimal for 176 (base 10) and 'B5' is hexadecimal for 181 (base 10). Some email software converts all non-ASCII characters to a form that can be displayed on any computer. This is the result when emails are sent as "plain text". In HTML based emails the degree sign would be sent as "°". > -----Original Message----- > From: modeleng-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:modeleng-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] > On Behalf Of John Pagett > Sent: Thursday, December 28, 2006 4:35 PM > To: modeleng@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [modeleng] Re: More Mystery thread > > Ken, > > Thanks for the tip, I didn't know that. > > It's interesting that in the section of your message that contains my > previous post, the symbols come out as codes "=B0", or "=B5", wheras when > it > came up on my PC (both when being composed and received) the symbols were > correctly represented. > > JohnP > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Ken Strauss" <ken.strauss@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <modeleng@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Thursday, December 28, 2006 8:53 PM > Subject: [modeleng] Re: More Mystery thread > > > If you are using a recent Microsoft OS (W2K or XP) you can see every = > choice > by selecting Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map.
