'B0' is hexadecimal for 176 (base 10) and 'B5' is hexadecimal for 181 (base
10). Some email software converts all non-ASCII characters to a form that
can be displayed on any computer. This is the result when emails are sent as
"plain text". In HTML based emails the degree sign would be sent as "&deg;".
