Have just signed up for this email group and thought I would test it by sending
you a photo of the Lady Scarlet cruise ship. I took this as we passed under her
bows during a fun race a few weeks ago in the Solent. Luckily she was at at
anchor, otherwise it might have been a bit fraught. You probably can’t see it
from this angle but on the vertical post, right up in the bows is a black ball.
Any vessel at anchor should display this but they all use roughly the same
size. So the mark gets lost on bigger ships, mind you the anchor chain can be a
give away. Another info stream for the museum could be signal marks on ships!!
