Mississippi Coast Audubon Society had our first Owl Howl with Mark Woodrey last
weekend - here’s the eBird list and his comments! We’ll be sure to repeat this
experience.
Mark says:
These observations were made as a part of a Mississippi Coast Audubon Society
field trip to Ward Bayou Wildlife Management Area focused on calling and
observing local owl species. We used call playback recordings from the David
Sibley Bird Identification phone app to call Great Horned, Barred, and Screech
Owls. Both Screech and Barred readily responded to calls, with Barred Owls
flying in close where we were able to observe them perched in trees using
infra-red lights.
