That Leucistic Boat Tailed Grackle is a really neat find Lucy.
Mary and I rode up to the area of the McDonald’s by I-10 on Monday afternoon
about 4:30 to see if we could re-sight the odd bird.
We spotted the bird as soon as we pulled into the McDonald’s parking lot. It
flew onto the ordering speaker in the drive through lane! It continued
moving around the parking lot area with lots of other Boat Tails and Gulls, and
to the adjacent truck parking area straight behind the McDonalds.
I looked up photos of Leucistic and Albino Grackles online, and it seems that
most of the photos were of Common Grackles and Great Tailed Grackles, not much
for Boat Tails. And, none of the photos for any of the birds seemed to have
patterns like this bird.
Here is the link to our Ebird List if anyone wants to look at more photos of
this odd bird.

This bird was at the McDonalds at Hwy 63 and I10 today. I tried to get a good
picture without getting people eating in their truck upset with me (thinking I
was taking pictures of them), I finally threw out a piece of biscuit. The bird
came quickly to it and I was able to get decent pictures. In the end, the
people in the truck were taking pictures with their phone!
