Hope everyone had a lovely weekend down at St. Catherine's Creek.
On behalf of Audubon Mississippi, I'm writing to I'm writing to invite all
Audubon Chapter Members and Associates (not just Chapter officers) to
Strawberry Plains Audubon Center (SPAC), November 1st - 3rd, for our inaugural
Audubon MS Chapter Retreat.
It is our hope that this will mark the first of many, semi-annual Audubon MS
Chapter gatherings, with our intention of this initial assembly to build a
foundation for how YOU, the Audubon Chapter members, would propose future
retreats to be structured, AND how they might align with our partnership at MOS.
This event, and future Chapter Retreats, are open to all Audubon MS Chapter
members, including our most recent Campus Chapters at Rust College, the
University of Mississippi, AND Mississippi State Univ. (our most recent
addition). We are currently finalizing the itinerary (see below) but have
several opportunities in place for great birding, discourse and conviviality.

Our first dialogue as part of SPAC's 'Land & Community' initiative, we are
sponsoring talk and panel which will highlight the context of land-use history,
agriculture, and environmental degradation during and after the Reconstruction
period in North MS. As one part of a local Voices of Reconstruction historical
symposium with over 13 community partners, this panel will feature speakers and
experts in the field of Environmental History from the University of
Mississippi and Mississippi State University CHASES (Center for History of
Agriculture, Science & the Environment of the
