Please join us for Audubon Coastal Bird Survey in Hancock County, MS The Audubon Coastal Bird Survey engages community volunteers in the monitoring of coastal birds and their habitats. Join experienced Audubon volunteers and staff to identify and count coastal bird species. Sunday, March 29, 2015 8:00AM-9:30AM Audubon Coastal Bird Survey-Garfield Ladner Pier (Waveland, MS, Hancock County) Meeting Location: Garfield Ladner Pier (parking area) 125 N Beach Blvd, Waveland, MS 39576, GPS Coordinates: 30°16'58.5"N 89°22'03.6"W Site Description: This site has sandy beach on either side of a large pier, with rocky jetties on either side. Reddish egrets, ruddy turnstones, and a variety of plovers and sandpipers are common on the mudflats directly adjacent to the jetty. The opposite side of the road has mature live oaks and suburban yards which attracts common suburban passerine species such as mockingbirds, crows, and blue jays.
