I have several Si5351 boards already and was
thinking of using one as both the VFO and the
20MHz LO. I'm new to hacking on RF design like
this, so forgive me if this is a stupid question,
but is there a reason not to do this? I could
control the USB vs LSB frequency shift in
software, and could even implement an IF Shift
feature for a little bit of filter control.
Second potentially stupid question: can I use the
first stage RF -> IF mixer design as the second IF
-> Audio mixer too? I'm laying out the sections as
individual boards to be fabbed by OSH Park, and
would love to just reuse a section if possible.
