Dear Farhan,
Thank you very much… I have really wanted to see the schematic of the HF1…
I had started a minima but will switch over to a HF1 as it will be easy as I
was
Building it in modules….
You’re a very gifted designer my friend with a real spirit of spreading Amateur
Radio to areas
Of the world who don’t have the resources or the spare cash to buy the latest
and greatest
Radio. Your designs have inspired many a Radio Amateur to build a great radio
using available
Parts and have a unit that will compete with the best of them.
I wish you well… and thanks for sending the schematic… I am old Amateur Radio
operator who
Still loves to build and tinker… I am 75 now… and every time I see one of your
designs, I marvel
At its simplicity and innovation. Keep it up, You’re doing the world a great
service.
Take care and have fun…

Where can we find the HF1 design?

Hi All,
While I like the Minima design, I found on mine that there was just too much
BFO
energy in the IF chain. Also, there was just too much LO energy at the antenna.
So, on my Minima I changed it to have SBL-1 mixers both at the front-end, and at
the product-detector/ssb-generator.
I have looked at the HF1 design, and decided to modify my existing Minima to
make it an
HF1. I encourage everyone to use the HF1 design, as it has many advantages over
the
Minima.

ok, here is what you all can do.
go ahead and make whatever you can out of the body of work of minima with the
following caveat:
1. to keep minima distinct, i wouldn't like these boards or version to be
callled the Minima or Minima version x, y z. Choose a different name.
2. if you design is substantially derived from Minima, then it should be
available without any restrictive copyright.
3. the software is under GPL, thus any derived version must be available under
the GPL too.
on the other hand, i have completed a much easier to build (though slightly
more part count than the BITX) all band transceiver called the HF1. It uses
diode mixers and the same audio back-end as the Minima. The HF1 is a double
conversion transceiver with the first IF of 45 MHz and the second IF of 10 MHz.
The first oscillator is the Si570 and the second oscillator is 18.432 MHz
crystal in third overtone. I have been operating it extensively for the last
few months. It is a fantastic performer which is very easy to setup and build.
I am enclosing a circuit of it here for you guys to go through.
I will complete the write-up and post it soon on my website. this grew out of
my frustration with the Minima's KISS mixer's oscillator leakage.

Hi Ashhar et al.
I had 10 PCB's made see http://www.magma.ca/~andrewr/ ;
<http://www.magma.ca/%7Eandrewr/>
I made these for my own use. Two other friends I gave boards and are
building.
I have my receiver working in RX. Thank you for a great design.
I have 5 blank boards left. I would like to send you and anyone else that
wants one for the cost of postage.
The boards are not perfect there are a few cuts and jumpers required. (see
construction doc a work in progress). If we have more builders can get
any remaining issues fixed. My BOM uses Digikey part numbers but can get
manfacturers numbuers from that.
Is Surface mount but can be easily hand assembled.
There is a construction manual on my web site that can be downloaded.
I also have a board designed for digital card I also have 5 of these left.
If the design is viable I can clean up the minor errors and have another
batch of boards made available at cost.
I had the boards made in China at reasonable cost.
Let me know what you think.
Andrew.

guys, here is the pinch, the mixer leakage is too much to meet the

I am also working on the digital board to go with this. I am also
writing a construction manual and it has the parts list as all
Digikey parts. Is a mix of surface mount and through hole but the
surface mount are all larger parts so can be hand assembled.
Surface mount parts very inexpensive.
(1206 size typ) Going to be posting progress on the web page,
suggest you wait till we fire up the first boards and get the bugs
out.
If it all works and there is interest will likely make boards
available at nominal cost to other Hams.
Keep checking the web page.
