Firestarter 1.0.3 free
http://www.fs-security.com/

A Modern Linux Firewall
Linux security does not have to be complex, and simplicity does not have to
mean sacrificing power.

With Firestarter you will have a firewall up and running in minutes.
After that it is up to you how deep you choose to go.

You can use Firestarter on your...
... desktop or laptop. Our philosophy of simplicity has made Firestarter the
most widely used Linux desktop firewall software available today.

... server. Firestarter can be installed onto individual servers and managed
graphically over SSH or using the shell.

... gateway or dedicated firewall. Firestarter will set up Internet connection
sharing for you with a minimum of fuss. Want DHCP for the clients? Sure you
could configure it yourself, but we know you never get around to doing it, with
Firestarter it only takes one click.

Deer Park Firefox 1.1 BETA
http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=6680
Deer Park Alpha 1 Release Candidates Available
Monday May 23rd, 2005
Asa Dotzler has announced that release candidate builds of Deer Park Alpha 1
are now available. Deer Park is the codename for Mozilla Firefox 1.1 and Deer
Park Alpha 1 is a preview of 1.1 aimed at developers. The builds available
today are Deer Park Alpha 1 release candidates.

Deer Park Alpha 1 intentionally uses a codename rather than the Mozilla Firefox
branding to dissuade end-users from downloading the preview (an end-user beta
will be available closer to the final 1.1 release). In the tradition of Mozilla
renamings, Deer Park Alpha 1 has previously been referred to in planning
documents as the Deer Park Developer Preview, the Firefox 1.1 Developer Preview
and Firefox 1.1 Alpha. Note that while this release is termed as an alpha, it's
actually based on the Mozilla 1.8 Beta 2 code. The final Firefox 1.1 release
will be based on the final 1.8 code.

Schmaili Freeware
http://www.schmaili.com/

Schmaili allows you to quickly insert a smiley icon into your e-mail. All you
have to do is select your choice of smiley from a menu and click on it to
insert it into your current e-mail window. You can choose from more than 100
static or animated icons. Schmaili is very easy to use and install; it runs in
the taskbar and opens with a single click. After selecting your smiley, the
menu automatically closes and moves out of the way.

Cycle Through Open Documents

Most people know that pressing ALT+TAB will cycle through open programs on your
computer. But did you know that CTRL+F6 cycles through open documents in many
different programs? You do now!
This works in Word, Excel, and Photoshop, to name a few.

Saving your Downloads ~ Mike's Friday Tip

Many times I will be asked where is the document/file/program/etc., that I down
loaded?

This can be fixed by always saving saving the downloads to a specific location.
You can change the settings in Internet Explorer to prompt you;

In IE click on Tools> Internet Options> Security>
Custom Level> Downloads
Automatic prompting for Downloads> Enable

This will cause the Download text box to open before the download can start.
Save the download to a specific location so that you can find it again.

I save mine to a file in my documents called Downloadz
I purposely misspell it so that it does not accidentally get deleted.
I also save the down loaded files in their compressed form so that I can burn
them to a CDR for future recovery and or installation on one of my other
computers. The Cd frequently comes in handy when visiting friends to try to
remove infections as it will have the most recent AV program loaded on it.

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
