JOB DESCRIPTION
The Tour Guide is the first impression visitors have when arriving at the
Heritage Village Museum. The Tour Guide is responsible for guided and
self-guided tours, exhibit visitation, giving out general information and
upcoming events, and gift shop sales. The position reports to the Education
Director.
Job Responsibilities:
∙Greet visitors to the Village
∙Give guided tours of the buildings
∙Wear period clothing and shoes
∙Assist visitors in the gift shop
∙Assist with special events
∙Assist with education programs when needed
∙Clean the gift shop
∙Price merchandise
∙Keep inventory of merchandise
∙Research items to sell in the gift shop
∙Assist with office work
∙Answers phone
∙Other duties as assigned by Executive Director and Education Director
Supervisor Responsibility
The Tour Guide over sees the Weekend Tour Guide and Volunteer Tour Guides.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely
uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and cash register.
On a less regular basis this role may use photocopier, filing cabinets, and fax
machine.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required
to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or
controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel,
crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must on occasion
lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the
job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision,
depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/expected Hours of Work
The position is seasonal May 2-September 30, 2018.
Work week is Wednesday-Sunday, hours are 10:00-5:00 Wednesday-Saturday (1/2
hour non-paid lunch break) and Sunday 1:00-5:00 (no lunch break)
On occasion may be asked to come in early or stay later or come in on another
day to assist with special event, program, or education program.
Required Skills
1. Strong Communication capabilities: verbal and interpersonal communication.
2. Computer Skills as they relate to the Office Suite.
3. Excellent People Person.
