Subject: YETI 2015 : Save the Abominable Snowman
To: meetyeti <meetyeti@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Dear All,

The Abominable snowman has disappeared for over a year now due to the lack
of hospitable habitat and might become extinct if we all don't resort to
drastic measures this year.

YETI was not held last year, as the probable hosts pulled out due to last
minute issues regarding the availability of the venue and no other student
group was willing to take on the responsibility. We are hoping that given
the early start this year, there might be many student groups who are
interested in coming forward to host YETI this year.

The idea behind YETI was to have it as a free-form conference for the
students and by the students, to provide students a platform to meet peers
and predecessors who share academic interests of students, and to develop
networks for the progress of ecology and ecologists. We have been lucky to
have many supporters (financially and otherwise), who believed in YETI and
backed us all up these years.

The time has come again to decide on the venue for YETI 2015. We would
like to formally invite interested student groups to bid for this year's
event. Decisions regarding the venue have always followed a fair policy of
consulting with all the prospective bidders and taken in consensus with
previous YETI organisers. The choice of venue is based on numerous
considerations, primary among which are :

(a) Availability of a critical mass of student organizers (i.e. 5-10
committed volunteers) who would take up the responsibility to act as a core
group

(b) Availability of institutional support & facilities/infrastructure

(c) Availability of faculty support on a need-basis (i.e. non-intrusive)

(d) Organisers' ability to rope in different individuals and organisations,
and the promise to keep YETI non-hierarchical, and

(e) the advantages of hosting YETI in the proposed venue.

So we invite you all to consider the idea of hosting YETI and to mail us at
*meet.yeti@xxxxxxxxx* <meet.yeti@xxxxxxxxx> to indicate your interest *by
April 20th, 2015*.

On behalf of YETI
