Hi team,

Please circulate this volunteering opportunity at the YETI group.

We are looking for volunteers who can help us safeguard the Devi Nesting
zone, an important olive Ridley turtle nesting area in Odisha. The duration
of the program will be the nesting season (mid - March to end of April) and
the minimum recommended volunteering period is 5-7 days.  Please mention in
the form (link provided) if you wish to volunteer for shorter span. Since
we are based in a remote rural area, accommodation facilities will be
modest (mostly camping at the beach)

About us

OPSA started as a small group of students concerned about the depleting
turtle populations in the Devi nesting zone. Over the past 6 years, we have
been patrolling the beaches each season and have conducted numerous beach
cleanups, awareness drives and hatchery management workshops in
collaboration with the forest department. Our story has been covered in
several news magazines (links attached) and has received recognition from
the State Government of Odisha. We are now registered as a trust. We
operate in both the Devi nesting zone and the Rushikulya nesting zone

Key responsibilities

All our activities (listed below) happen along the beach throughout the
night. You will be divided into shifts depending on the participation
strength.
1) Beach Patrolling.
2) Identification and documentation of nests.
3) Hatchery Management and related activities.

Eligibility

We are based in a remote area and volunteering work will require long hours
of patrolling. Hence, physical fitness and prior experience of
living/working in rural areas are desired.

Perks

1) Participation certificate.
2) Recommendation letter*
3) Learning rehabilitation techniques.
4) Hands-on experience in rescuing hatchlings
5) Learning about hatchery management
6) Experience beach camping and rural culture
*  for those who have engaged with us for at least a week.
