*Short term internship opportunity on disease ecology with NCBS Bangalore*
Hi,
We are looking for an intern to assist in data collection, curation and
analysis to strengthen ideas for a developing disease ecology project. The
broad objective of the project is to understand host and pathogen
communities and their dynamics in response to land-use change in the
Western Ghats. The goal of the internship is to collate evidence of
zoonotic disease outbreaks in India and correlate these incidences with
different predictor variables such as land-use change, mammalian diversity
and human population density. Our current research focuses on zoonotic
emerging pathogens and their host communities in biodiverse regions such as
the Western Ghats and northeast India. Interested candidates, please apply.
*Benefits to the applicants:* Exposure to large scale biodiversity and
public health data repositories. Good learning opportunity by being part of
consultation activity planning to have with experts from academics, public
health, forestry and administration. If interested, people can also be
involved in other disease ecology projects in the laboratory.
*The duration of the project:* Three months starting from October 2020.
*Essential Qualifications and requirements:* Master’s degree in any streams
of biology and a good understanding of Microsoft Office. Basic knowledge of
QGIS would be desirable. Selected candidates are encouraged to work from
their residence and should be available for regular meetings via Zoom/Skype.
*Remuneration:* A stipend of 15,000 INR/month for three months.
