4 DAYS ONLINE INTRODUCTORY COURSE IN
*MOLECULAR PHYLOGENETICS *
*(16-19 February 2021 (6 pm - 8:00 pm IST))*
In recent times, a huge amount of DNA sequence data, including complete
genomes, have been generated for numerous organisms. Further, advancement
in analysis methods have also contributed to the increase in number of
molecular phylogenetic studies across the world. However, due to lack of
proper training, these sequence data are not analyzed correctly.
*This 4-day course will provide an understanding of basic principles and
analysis methods necessary to undertake a molecular phylogenetic study. *
*The course is divided into theory and hands-on practical sessions.*
*Topics covered*: Theory - methods of tree building (UPGMA, Neighbour
Joining, Maximum likelihood and Bayesian approach), molecular markers,
nucleotide substitution models.
Hands-on session – Software- MEGA, Partition finder, Raxml, Mr. Bayes, BEAST
*Eligibility and requirements: *This course is aimed at anyone interested
in molecular phylogenetics. Preference will be given to participants with a
biology background. Windows OS with atleast 4GB RAM and i3 processor
recommended.
