Contribute to the conservation of endangered species: Opportunity to learn
and volunteer in a Geographic Information System (GIS) project at NCBS
Want to learn GIS, meet a vibrant scientific community, all while
contributing to wildlife conservation research? Come work with us! We aim
to understand multispecies carnivore connectivity across multi-use
landscapes of India. I am looking for volunteers who are interested in
learning spatial analysis using QGIS and contributing to this ongoing
project.
You will be expected to
1. Spatially map species from literature and openly available resources
2. Digitize and map anthropogenic features (roads, rails, human
settlements) affecting genetic connectivity
This is a part-time and in-person opportunity. The work is scheduled to
begin this month and we expect the volunteers to come and work at the NCBS
campus, Bangalore over the weekends (9 AM - 5 PM). This is an UNPAID
position.
