A Junior Research Fellow position is available in a Project investigating
life histories and growth-defense tradeoffs in grass species of Manas Terai
Ecosystem, lower Assam.The position is funded by the Science and
Engineering Research Board (SERB) of DST, Govt. of India. The position will
be based at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER),
Kolkata, but the Fellow will have to spend extended periods on field work
in Manas National Park. The project will involve extensive field-based of
studies of the distributions of grass species, ecophysiological
measurements, and laboratory chemical analyses. Candidates with experience
in field botanical research in tropical grasslands or forests, ecological
knowledge on plant life histories, competition and succession, would be
preferred.
The initial appointment will be for a one-year, extendable up to three
years based on performance and research interests. Fellowship will be per
SERB-DST guidelines, which is Rs. 31,000/- per month plus 24% HRA.

with a detailed CV (academic qualifications, technical skills, relevant
research experience, and any accomplishments). Only candidates who meet the
requirements will be invited to appear for an interview on location at
IISER Kolkata. Walk-in candidates will not be entertained.
Qualifications: Candidates should have M.Sc./M.Phil./M.Tech in Biological
Sciences/Ecology/Botany/Environmental Science/Geography/Forestry/ or
closely allied subjects, with atleast 55% marks, and should have qualified
at least one national level exam such as NET-LS, GATE, JGEEBILS, or
equivalent exams.
Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be requested to appear for an
interview. The interview will be held at IISER Kolkata, Mohanpur Campus on
July 12th, 2019 (Friday) starting at 11:00 AM. Information about IISER
