I have the pleasure to inform you that *Bhumika: A Stakeholder Perspective
Role Play Competition* is being organized as a part of *Coalescence 2020*.

*The objective of the competition*
Create interest and awareness of issues and perspectives related to climate
change. Are we able to see this issue through the others’ eyes, in the
others’ shoes, within their circumstances? What can we understand about all
the stakeholders related to climate change in order to create a better
world?
*Description of the Competition*
Climate change is rapidly changing multiple things. Many of us are well
aware of the rising temperature, sea-level rise, increased severity of
floods and droughts, etc. This factual information and data are available
to all. Apart from the data, however, we have to take the time to think of
the lives of the people involved in this changing climate.
This event is an opportunity for the participants to explore and explain
the perspectives of people from various walks of life with respect to
climate change. Some examples of the same are like the difficulties faced
by a farmer in a particular region due to climate change? If you were the
Prime Minister what would your viewpoint be?
One example can be the below link which is a speech by President Obama on
Climate Change. Many such examples of speeches by people exist and can be
checked online.

The team which is able to be the most authentic in terms of seeing through
the perspective of the other person will be given the highest points. Take
up this challenge; help yourself and everyone gain a deeper understanding
of climate change. Last but not the least; the speech should covey the
person’s perspective on how to make the situation better as the *theme of
this year’s coalescence is to ‘build back better’.*
*Structure*
- There will be two phases (levels) to the event.
- Phase 1: 500 words (hard limit) write up (shortlisting round).
- *Deadline for phase 1 submission by the participants: 11:59 PM,
29/10/2020 and evaluation of the 1st phase entries would positively be
completed by 31/10/2020, 6 PM.*
- If selected, phase 2 will be a 10 min speech given by one of the team
members in front of prominent judges and audience through an online medium.
- *Phase 2 on 8/Nov/2020, 2 PM onwards on Google Meet.*
*Marking Criterion: Authenticity/justification to the role (40%), Alignment
with the theme of Coalescence 2020 (20%), Content quality (20%), Delivery
(20%).*
Evaluation Criterion would be same for both the phases.
*Team Requirements*
- Number of Teammates: 1-3
- Participants should select a role from the given list.
- Number of Teams per college: First 3 entries from each college.
- Open to all Graduation and Post-Graduation College students.
*Points to be noted:*
- Participants should choose a role or character from the given list and
demonstrate their perspective towards the issues and themes mentioned.
- *No Entry fee.*
- *Prize money worth: ₹25000/- (1st ₹15000/- & 2nd ₹10000/-)*
- Few Topics/Characters are going to be given 10 bonus points for if
chosen by the participants.
- *Marking criterion: *Authenticity or justification to the role (40%),
alignment with the theme of Coalescence 2020 (20%), Content quality (20%),
Delivery (20%).
- Phase 1 document (.doc/.pdf) should be uploaded in D2C portal before
the deadline.
- The decision of the judges will be final.

‘Coalescence’ is the annual two-day flagship business conclave of Indian
Institute of Forest Management which, every year, engages various
stakeholders-eminent industry and corporate professionals, academicians,
researchers, & entrepreneurs, in a bid to coalesce the brilliant minds and
encourage knowledge and experience sharing amongst, established
professionals and the future change-makers. The theme for coalescence-2019
was “SDGs and Sustainable Practices”. The focus areas were sustainable
business Practices, the role of data & technology in policy-making and
governance, Sustainable Development Goals, Corporate Social Responsibility,
and Green ventures.
COVID-19 is an unprecedented disaster which has crippled nations,
businesses and livelihoods at a scale that is yet to be accurately mapped.
As future managers, we recognize that going back to “Business-as-usual” is
neither desirable nor possible; instead, there is an opportunity to “Build
Back Better”. “Build Back Better” is defined by the United Nations Office
for Disaster Risk Reduction(UNDRR)as the recovery, rehabilitation and
reconstruction phases after a disaster in order to increase resilience.
E-Coalescence’20 seeks to engage with the erudite stake-holders on the role
of corporate responsibility towards the environment and people, government
policies that should focus on development and environmental protection,
entrepreneurship in sustainable options and green business initiatives.
E-Coalescence’20 will also witness various events on the themes of ESG
reporting, Supply Chain Problems and Sustainability Assessment of
projects/events.
