Greetings from TERI!
Hope you find this email amidst good health. The current pandemic, as we
all know, has shut down schools and colleges, however we are all adjusting
to the ‘new normal’. While academic institutions have continued to inspire
us in more ways than one, TERI has consciously promoted initiatives related
to environment education through virtual tools. One such example is, *Youth
Climate Conclave (YCC)*, being organised as a joint partnership programme
by EU Delegation to India, GIZ, CEEW and TERI, under SPIPA project, where
MOEFCC is the nodal Ministry. The first edition of this prestigious
initiative led to formulation of Youth Declaration on Climate Action (
http://wsds.teriin.org/img/YouthDeclarationonClimateAction.pdf), and an
impressive monograph developed from contributions of participants from
blogging contest (https://bit.ly/2xP9n0s).
Launched on the eve of World Environment Day 2020, the second edition of
YCC aims to facilitate engagement, education and empowerment of Indian
youth about the challenges of Climate Change. The kick- off event of Photo,
Blog and Short Video Competitions was held on 11 August which marked the
announcement of competitions for students, along with expert talks on
issues related to Climate Change (bit.ly/30IB8Ua)
With this mail and in the run up to the conclave, three competitions are
announced in the age criteria of 10 – 18 years and 19 – 25 years-
Photography, Blogging and Short Video competitions for passionate budding
environmentalists who wish to create a better future with innovative
sustainable solutions. Apart from recognition of winners, they will also
have a chance to attend the Youth Climate Conclave 2021 leading to
preparation of the Youth Declaration on Climate Action 2021. However, the
exact nature of the Conclave in 2021 is yet to be decided, due to
uncertainty posed by COVID 19.
We are very excited for this initiative and we hope that students in your
network will benefit immensely from participating in the competitions. We
would request you to circulate the information about the contests amongst
the students and encourage them to participate in this distinctive youth
