Dear All
It's that time of the year again when adult fireflies have emerged and are
being seen across India.
Fireflies along with many other insect populations are dwindling and
we don't have enough data to substantiate the same and inform conservation
efforts.
*FireflyWatch *is a citizen science project aimed at mapping and monitoring
fireflies.
*If you have seen fireflies or might see them in the future, please fill
out the following form. It is a one page bilingual form in English and
Tamil , which takes less than 5 minutes to fill*.( please do allow the form
to collect location details. You can enter multiple sightings by using the
form several times and can record sightings from previous years if you have
a good memory of what you saw. Sighting even a single firefly can be
entered)

This project was launched in 2021 and has recorded 121 firefly sightings
from across India so far. It is currently supported by Earthwatch India's
fellowship for Citizen Science.
