and Vanthali blocks, Junagadh district, Gujarat*

*Position:* Field Officer
*Duration:* 2 Months ( October And November)

*Qualification Required:*
· Masters graduate/ pursuing PhD in agriculture or allied fields
· Must be based in Junagadh district
· Must speak Gujarati
· Desirable to have experience of carrying out socio-economic surveys
and interactions with farmers and rural communities
Payment Terms
The total amount for this contract will be INR 10,000-12,000/month,
depending on the candidate experience. This will include all travel and
other expenses incurred by the field officer.
Scope of Work
· Data collection from District/ block administrative offices,
Junagadh Agriculture University and Directorate of Groundnut Research for
both block for the following parameters:
o Farmer profiles
o Peanut production and yield
o Fertiliser consumption patterns
o Soil Analysis and soil quality challenges
o Irrigation usage
o Groundwater studies
o Farming practices
o Climate resilient cultivars developed or being developed
o Peanut growth cycle
o Good practices and case studies for climate resilient groundnut
production
· Organise and conduct 7-8 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with 8-10
farmers in each FGD (following all social distancing guidelines), and 12-15
Key Informant Interviews with selected farmers in the two blocks to gather
information on:
o Current peanut farming practices
o Change in farming practices over time
o Perceptions on the impact of changing climate on peanut cultivation
o Use of machinery
o Fuel/ Energy consumption
o Capacity to adapt to climate change
o Income from peanut farming
o Cropping pattern
The list of farmers that will be interviewed in the FGDs and key informant
interviews along with their details (name, village name and contact no)
will be shared by IORA.
The field officer will record all interviews and FGDs, and share the
translated English transcripts with IORA, along with translated
questionnaires.
· Organise interviews for IORA team with peanut scientists at
Junagadh Agriculture University and Directorate of Groundnut Research to:
o Discuss results of climate change project to understand impact on
peanut crop growth
o Get feedback on adaptation strategies and best practices booklet
