While exact figures are unavailable, large numbers of pastoralists graze
India’s forests, grasslands and farm fallows, making significant
contributions to India’s food security, biodiversity, livelihoods and
crafts. Despite this, they remain marginalised, their mobility often seen
as a lifestyle that needs to give way to a more settled mode. Pastoral
Dialogues is a curated set of conversations on all things pastoral,
covering the histories, lives and cultures of these communities.
Kalpavriksh, Centre for Pastoralism and the Indian Commoner are pleased to
invite you to *the 4th of a series of curated conversations* on Indian
Pastoralism - from *Pastoral Dialogues*.
This dialogue features Sandeep Virmani in conversation with Ilse
Koehler-Rollefson, Devinder Kumar Sadana and Ramesh Bhatti.
*Pastoralists: More than Keepers of Genes* will explore the role that
communities play in breeding livestock populations in India.
