Hello all,
This is to bring to your kind attention about *an opportunity of a
voluntary internship at Prof. R. Sukumar lab in Centre for Ecological
Sciences (CES), Indian Institute of Science*, Bengaluru. The project
primarily deals with *Soil nutrient cycling and its dynamics in the dry
deciduous tropical forest of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve*, Tamil Nadu.
The voluntary internship would involve:
1. A stay in CES Field Station in Masinagudi, Tamil Nadu, where you are
supposed to assist in preliminary sorting, grinding and sieving of soil
samples collected from the forest and bring it back to Bengaluru for
analysis.
2. Grinding of plant samples in the lab at CES, IISc, Bengaluru.
3. Assistance in carrying out simple soil-based experiments to estimate the
amount of soil organic matter, carbon, and nitrogen as well as estimation
of microbial biomass in soil samples, etc.
4. If possible, the tenure might also include elemental and stable isotopes
(C-13 and N-15) analyses of soil and plant samples.

can start our work as soon as possible.
N.B.: *The charges for traveling to Masinagudi Tamil Nadu and return back
to Bengaluru will be covered in this internship*. *Accommodation in
Bengaluru is not covered under this volunteership. *
