*COVID-19 and Biodiversity Research in India*
COVID-19 or Coronavirus is impacting all parts of human society.
Biodiversity researchers and conservationists, like everyone else, is
concerned with how the pandemic is affecting the lives of their relatives,
and people around the world. But we have an obligation to think about how
it will impact our biodiversity and research. However, field and lab work
have been partially shut down, while teaching and other communications have
moved online, with consequences for training, data collection, and
networking that are still uncertain. The consequences of this pandemic on
wildlife and environment are also unclear. In this regard, a questionnaire
survey was designed with the intention to understand the general trend and
attitudes of ‘relevant stakeholders’ on the impacts of COVID-19 on
biodiversity research and conservation. It tries to address the underlying
problems, anxieties and perceptions of early career researchers and
professionals in this field regarding the ongoing crisis. The survey data
will serve as baseline information on the impacts of the pandemic on
biodiversity and conservation in India.
