We at Wild Otters Research <http://wildotters.com/> are organizing a 5-Day
specialised IUCN SSC-OSG certified training course in Otter Research &
Conservation from 13-17 December, 2018.
*About the course : *The course is aimed at individuals who would like an
in-depth understanding of conservation research and field methods. Focus
will be on the Smooth-coated otter and Asian small-clawed otter species and
participants will understand how to identify key signs of the species,
their behaviour, adaptation to new ecosystems and threats faced by the
animal. Technologies such as GPS systems with data interpretation and
Camera Trapping will primarily be used in this course. How conservation
projects are planned and executed at Wild Otters Research will be a key
component of this course with participants getting their hands dirty on
some ongoing projects. Finally the end goal is for participants to be
empowered to self-identify otter habitats, exposure to LIVE projects in
action which can help plan their own projects and learn ways to involve the

*Dates* : 13-17 Dec, 2018 (*Thursday 930 AM - Monday 4 PM*)
*Location* : Chorao Island, Goa, India ( *a ferry ride away from Panjim*)
*Certificate* : A certificate will be awarded to all candidates who
complete the course.
*Chief Instructor(s) *:

Otter Specialist Group.
She will be assisted by the research team at Wild Otters Research.
*Price* : INR 11000 per person *(includes training, accommodation, all
meals, field travel and all equipment costs)*
*Slots* : We will have limited slots, a maximum of approx. 10 individuals.

*Pre-requisite *: Motivation and goal to plan and execute own projects in
the conservation arena. A basic knowledge of otters (different species
around the world and some of the threats faced by them) should be read
upon/understood by participants before coming, this being a specialised
course. It is not essential to be from the wildlife/biology discipline, but
is preferable, as naturally your understanding would be deeper.
