1. LEARNING FROM LECHERY: THE ETHICS OF THE ADULT ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY

This week's discussion question: What can we learn from Danni Nashe
about running a successful web site? Three areas to consider for this
discussion-the Internet technology she uses to run her web site, her
unique approach to viral marketing and what aspects of her web site
make it a successful business model? Lastly what does her success say
about us
  morally?

*DANNI NOTES:

Porn Star and Internet Entrepreneur Danni Nashe, aka Danni's Hard
Drive (www.danni.com), is the Guiness World Record Holder for Most
Downloaded Woman. Photos of Danni were downloaded 841,271,545 times
between February 1996 and June 2000.

Many leading Internet marketing executives consider Danni a
successful Entrepreneur. They actually study adult entertainment
sites like Danni's Hard Drive to learn successful Internet marketing
techniques. We consider her the queen of viral marketing!.

To learn more about her business practices, check out her Real
Player stream here (it's an interview not a sex show):

Danni.com Fun Facts:

*On a daily basis, Danni.com uses more bandwidth than all of Central America.
*If each image of Danni that's been downloaded were printed on a
separate piece of Xerox paper the stack would be over 278,285 feet
tall - that's 52.7 miles, or 47 miles into space.
*If each downloaded image were printed on standard letter size paper
and laid end-to-end they'd stretch 144,940 miles - or three and a
half times around the world.
*The weight of all of the Danni images downloaded if printed on
standard letter-size paper would be 8,870,348 lbs or 3,959 tons.
*If one person were to download all 10.15 terabytes of Danni images
that have been downloaded, using a 28Kbs modem it would take over 12
years.
*On average, since February 1996, 6 images of Danni have been
downloaded every second.
*On average over 100,000 people download images of Danni every day.
*You could download a different image of Danni every day for over 11
years and never download the same image twice. We add new images so
fast that at current rates we'd have added enough images to last
another 31 years by the time you'd looked at what's on the site today.
*To store all of the images of Danni downloaded you'd need over
100,000 Zip disks at a cost of approximately $1.8 million dollars.

2. POSTINGS: WHAT YOU FOLKS HAVE SAID!

*"I will not subscribe to a site that takes over TWO MINUTES to load
on a dial-up connection (and well over a minute before I saw the
words 'Media Addict'. Thanks anyway, but I'd rather iron shirts for a
hobby.
"
Adrian Ord mailto:ardian.ord@xxxxxxxxx

Adrian:

Thanks to Adrian's Insightful wisdom and continued beta testing by
John Kirsch. John killed the eye opening flash title animation so
the web site should load up much faster. Please check the new web
site now Adrian and please tell us what hardware you are using to
visit us.

Cheers,

mediaADDICT (mA).

Andrea:

The home key is fixed Andrea. Thanks. (Note: Andrea is now part of
the Network! Folks check out Andrea Varalli's web site under the Arts
section of our Channels guide, Keep checking it! Jason reports that
Andrea will soon have a new Exhibit coming on line soon, when can we
expect it to be up Andrea?)

Cheers

*"Hey Bud,

I LOVE THE SITE!!! The only thing I can't get is "Home." Compare your
fast, smooth and useful site to the sluggish, useless mass called
olympics.com. You're the king!"

Mind Wanderer mailto:wanderings@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hey Mind Wanderer:

When can we expect to see more writings from you? How is Los Angeles?

III. NEWS FROM AROUND THE NET

*ShockWave.com announces a new animated series from Tim Burton, the
genius behind Beetlejuice, Batman, and The Nightmare Before
Christmas; Burton has crafted a rich world of Good versus Evil
featuring a well-intentioned but ill-equipped super hero named
Stainboy.
The eerie debut episode pits Stainboy against another deviant, sick,
no-good-to-society freak of nature: a girl who just stares. Can
Stainboy survive a stare down to the death? Requires the Shockwave
Plugin

*QuickTime News:

If you have the QuickTime 4 player, check out the new movie preview
for "Get Carter". "Get Carter" is a remake of the 1971 film starring
Michael Caine, which was based upon the Ted Lewis novel "Jack's
Return Home." This new version stars Sylvester Stallone. The preview
rocks.
