I haven't taken an exam, but I attended a workshop on the exam process at an
Editors' Canada conference.
Pass rates vary from around 20% to 50%. If you do fail you get a pass/fail--no
explanations.
I recently learned you can apply to test out the exams, and though you don't
get certified, you get feedback. (I believe it's free, but you have to wait 2
years before actually taking the exam)
Also, they have courses (through Queen's) to help with preparation. Editors
Canada could answer any questions.
