You can self-subscribe to it if you click on this link. Just enter your address
in the field, choose "Subscribe" action, and click "Go!".
I can enter everyone email address myself (let me know if you want that). But
anyway, you will get a confirmation email, where you sill still need to click a
link to confirm. I cannot fully add everyone due to anti-spam laws - your
confirmation is required.
Even if you don't subscribe - you can see the archive of all the messages ever
sent to the group. But you cannot send messages to
mcgilvra-room6-2016@xxxxxxxxxxxxx if you are not subscribed (this should save
us from spam).

PS. Technical details: This is first time I've created a subscription list. So
I've tried googlegroups (it seems you have to use a Google account to manage
it) and emaildodo (the group I created was blocked immediately). We can create
a list on some other service if you believe that service is better (e.g. not
limited by Canadian Anti-Spam Law, like freelists.org).
PPS. Let me know who wants to be an admin of the list, or co-owner.

Hi Room 6 Parents!
I wanted to quickly introduce myself as one of your two Room Parents for Mr.
Sypulkoski’s class this year. My name is Kari Aggerholm and I am Parker A.’s
Mom. Kerry Quinn ( Lillian’s mom) has also graciously agreed to help out as
the other Room Parent.
The two of us will help Mr. S with needs in the classroom and to find
volunteers for classroom & school events - as well as answer any questions you
might have about upcoming dates/etc.
Below are a few events coming up as well as a few reminders.
1) Run-A-Thon: Volunteers needed for the Run-a-Thon.We need three parents from
our class to help out on the day-of (Oct 7) to count laps & cheers the kids

This is a big fundraiser for our school so please get your donations in!!! The
Run-A-Thon begins at 12:30 and I believe that volunteers are asked to be at
school no later than 11:45.
2) Parent Social: We are working on ideas for a parent social If you have any
clever ideas please let us know. Please keep an eye out for a date soon so you
can book a sitter and join us!
3) Please if you haven’t done so, sign up to bring snacks in for the class for
two weeks out of the year. You will need to bring in two healthy snacks for
each kid every school day packed in an easy to distribute servings.
4.) We are looking for some volunteers in the classroom. We are looking for
help with the reading stations. The reading stations take place on Monday,
Wednesday and Fridays from 9-10am. It is a great way to get to know the
children in the classroom and to help them improve their reading skills.
Please let me know if you can volunteer for one or two of the days.
Consistency is extremely helpful so that the children and parents are
comfortable and familiar with the stations and routines.
We are looking for 2-3 Volunteers for Mondays from 9-10am,
2-3 Volunteers on Wednesdays from 9-10am
2-3 Volunteers on Fridays from 9-10
5.) We need an art volunteer for our classroom. This year's Art Program is a
little different from past years. Ms. Julia Waldeck will be traveling to each
class with her Art Cart!
Needed: 1 weekly volunteer on Mondays from 8-8:45. This job involves handing
out materials, encouraging kids w projects, cleanup. Please let me know if you
would like to volunteer for this position.
6.) Picture Day is coming up on October 13th. Please have your kiddos wear
something that you want them to have their picture taken in!! We are looking
for volunteers to collect students when it is their turn, assist with order
sheets, and help with tidying up the kids! we need two volunteers from 8-11am
and we need two volunteers from 11-2pm. If you would like to help out please

7.) There is a vacant Co-Fundraising chair position. Cathy Davidson has been
hard at work this year on the Run-A-Thon & the Annual Fund. It would be
extremely helpful for her to have a co-chair and to make this position
successful in raising funds to support the student programs at McGilvra,
including the support of
teachers and staff. Please consider stepping up to serve on the PTA. Below is
an attached letter from Cathy detailing the position. If you have more
questions you can contact Lesley Bobek or Cathy Davidson.
8.) A big thank you to our wonderful teacher Mr. S who provides a great
environment for our children to learn while generating many smiles on their
faces throughout the day!
