Greetings fellow Corvair enthusiasts!
It's hard to believe that August is nearly over. On Monday, August 17th the
MCCC met at the Sonic in Berry Hill for the August club meeting. If memory
serves, we had 9 Corvairs and 13 people show up for the meeting. We
welcomed new club members Herb and Sharon Harlen, who are the proud owners
of a 1966 Corvair.
Tech Day at the Hausman Garage is set for Saturday, September 26, from
11:00am until the last car leaves and, as John says, "vittles will be
provided." This tech day and get together is being hosted by member John
Hausman at his home and garage located in lovely Waverly, TN on Kentucky
Lake. Just a stone's throw from Nashville (well, maybe two stones), those
who make the journey will be blessed with a great country drive. I drove
out to John's last Friday for a visit and then took the scenic, winding,
long way home "over the river and through the woods." Delightful. John
says bring your parts and he can put your car up on the lift for servicing.
Since the Music City Corvair Club's 40th Anniversary falls in September we
will celebrate that milestone while visiting at John's garage. You get two
events for the price of one, and both are free! Plus, there's a good chance
cake and ice cream will be involved.
Our September club meeting will be held at the Sonic once again on Monday,
September 21st. That is the Monday before the club event at the Hausman
Garage so we will cover plans for that day at the meeting. I am sure there
will be Corvair car groups meeting up to caravan to John's from different
points across the region. We will also learn more about a Parts (and other
stuff) Auction being planned for October at Darrell and Janet Varley's
house. Most of the proceeds from the auction will go build up the club
coffers, which currently totals a bit over $1,000.
Mask up, social distance, enjoy the great outdoors, stay healthy and, of
course, drive your Corvair!
