Subject: [MASC] Boat Diving - Friday 30th September - Easy Bay Dives - Public
Holiday!
Hi Everyone,
Thanks to the best thing to happen to football all year (a public holiday),
I'll be taking the boat out for a day of diving next Friday 30th September
and you're invited! We will be leaving from either Rye or Sorrento at around
9am (time and place to be confirmed), and carpooling can be arranged if need be.
The plan is for some easy bay diving to clear out those winter diving cobwebs
and get in some practice for the summer diving season. It will also be a chance
to get some more experience for some bigger trips such as Wilsons Promontory at
the end of October and possibly get some boat driving practice for up-coming
boat drivers. And look below - the water temperature is getting warmer!

The dives will be fairly easy and suitable for most people with a bit of diving
experience, if you are not sure or want to know more please give me a call.
Possible dives include:
- The Hurricane (wreck)- Rosebud Reef- Rye Scallops (scallops for dinner? -
requires a fishing licence)- South Channel Fort- Popes Eye- Portsea Hole
- Port Phillip Drifts
Final dives will be agreed on the day pending popularity
Please let me know if you're keen and want to book a spot, we have limited
spots on the boat so don't leave it too long...
You will need to be a member of both MONUC and MASC to come along.
Costs will be $25 per dive, plus donation for towing the boat down to
Rye/Sorrento and sharing costs of things like boat ramp parking.
You'll also need to be responsible for bringing all the personal stuff
necessary for you to dive, including:
- 2 full tanks
- Dive computer
- Safety sausage or deployable SMB (highly recommended)
- Torch, knife and whistle are highly recommended- Lunch- Warm clothes and
towel (Unfortunately it's still going to be cool, sorry I can't do anything
about that)
A short disclaimer to consider: It is unlikely that there will be any
divemasters or instructors on the boat, just a bunch of friendly divers some of
uswill take it in turns to drive the boat and do some of ourown diving. To
come on this trip you need to be a competent trained diver who can look after
and take responsibility for yourself. But you will not be completely alone, we
will arrange diving buddies on the day based on experience and preferences.
Happy Diving, Please let me know if you want to come along.
Adrian
