I put this on our MAPA Facebook page, but I'm sending this out to everyone as
well via email because I really want everyone's feedback.
My county auditor tells me (we had this same conversation 2 years ago, but I
ignored it) that I can't use county resources for individual clients.
Specifically, I can't use a county vehicle to move a clients belongings. Now,
when a client has money I will hire that job out, but if the client has no
money my office has to do the job myself or it won't get done. She tells me
she has called other 1st class counties and their auditors have all told her
the same thing. She also tells me that it is against the Missouri Constitution
for me to use county resources for individual clients. I have asked her to
site that part of the constitution for me. I'm not seeing how the county truck
is different from me using the county printer and Micr ink to print client
checks. Or using the SEM program, which the county owns, to keep my clients
personal information in, or using the county phone to conduct business for
individual clients.
Also, I don't understand why I'm charging my clients a fee that then goes to
the county, if the county isn't supposed to use resources to support them?
I need some feed back. Are any of your counties doing this?
This job is stressful enough without having to deal with this crap too.
