I have a client that requested some information on paying for medical records.
If a provider asks an insurance carrier to pay for a medical visit on a work
comp case, does that provider have to give the carrier copies of the actual
medical records for free, or is the provider allowed to demand payment? My
client has an adjuster that insists that they need to see the actual record
before paying the bill for the service, but the provider won't give him the
records until he pays the statutory fee for records requests.
