[macvoiceover] time machine backup to network drive

can anyone tell me if they are experiencing the same as me and a friend of
mine. we are both using mac minis with the latest os, we are backing up to
western digital network drives but we can’t access the backed up content. it’s
as if the folder is compressed. any thoughts?
just to add there was no issues when backing up to a USB passport drive.
