Actually, I think we have to specify this a bit. It seems that it depends on
where you press this key. In many cases VoiceOver really stops talking. but if
you par example step through your mail or are in calendar it may take up to 5
CTRL presses until VO really stops talking. This is sometimes very unnerving
and I hope someone of us might have a workaround or another shortcut which
would work.
