advise the Apple Accessibility Team of how useful it was for Blind users to
have the audio indication the the Chime gave that our machines were loading
either from a start-up, re-start or PRAM start.
Previously with mechanical hard drives we could hear progress but now with
solid state drives there is no audio confirmation of any progress until
VoiceOver announces itself.
Perhaps in a future Sierra, High Sierra or Mojave update the Chime could be
reinstated to sound by default and if users who wish to turn it off could
have that option.
There seems to be no satisfactory option for users such as the Mac Blind
Community to turn the Chime back on.
