[macvoiceover] recovering mails from time-machine

Hi all,
I was wondering if it should be possible to restore mails from a time-machine
backup.
I have heard of sighted people that you first have to open the time-machine
program and before/after, the mail program.
Then, all backupd mails should be visible in the mailfolders.
On my system , this method seems not to work.
Any help should be very welcome.
