Thanks much but none of these are the problems and I sure am not real willing
to reinstall all my software! Have searched google and haven't found a
satisfactory solution.

you? These models sadly have some keyboard issues.
2. Tried with another external keyboard?
3. If this is a software related issue: Would reset your mac and then
installing all your needed software locate a program which would potentially
do this?
4. A google search could reveal some solutions. Here it's talking about menu
bar and dock not available when programs are in full screen mode. Not sure
if this would be the case here:

Betreff: [macvoiceover] cannot access menu bar on mac
Ok this has been driving me nuts for a couple of weeks though it has
happened before for shorter periods. I cannot use vo-m to go to the menu
bar; it says "closing menu". Another press will take me to the extras menu
and then the next press takes me back again to closing menu. I have tried
relaunching finder, turning cursor tracking on and off, shutting down,
restarting. I have tried control-f2 also with no feedback at all. Every
once in a while it works out of the blue then goes back to not working
again. Any suggestions?!!!! Exasperated!!!!!
