That’s right. QuickTime allows you to record the iPhone screen, but you cannot
use the camera. I believe there are some apps to do this though. you have to
install them on both the iPhone and the Mac. Just look for it and I’m sure
you’ll find something.

According to the articles I've read, I should be able to plug my phone into
my Mac, pick it as the camera device within QuickTime and then use it
effectively as a normal camera to record video. However, when I tried this,
my wife tells me that the image that QuickTime previews is a representation
of the phone's screen, not what its camera is seeing.
Can anybody please tell me how I can do what I want - I don't want to have
to buy a dedicated 4k camera unless I really have to.
