Hi Ian, thanks for your notes. I'm still hoping that I’ll find a solution where
I can program a hardware MIDI controller with all these functions. But it’s
definitely good to know that there is a lot possible with iMovie.

Hello Ben, I haven’t worked with Final Cut, but I did check out stabilizing a
shakey clip in iMovie for Mac, and add it to my ongoing notes. I’ll paste
that below.
Now that I”m pretty familiar with iMovie the steps to import and add are
pretty natural, even though there are a lot and it would be nice if they were
streamlined. Next step for me is figuring out a way to make a title card with
Voiceover.
Here is the link I worked from in finding a few of these editing functions.

Here are my notes
Stabilizing a shakey clip
Stabilizing is in the same area as adjusting volume, start by selecting the
clip you want to stabilize in the project timeline.
Use VO I to open the item schooser and start typing stabilize. I think sta
was enough to find it.
This will be a toggle button, VO space to activate.
VO right arrow through the options until you hear stabilize clip check box,
check it then VO right to the slider to adjust.
This is pretty visual, I haven’t had any sighted assistance to confirm what
it takes to stabilize differnt levels of shakiness.
The on-line support documentation says it takes a bit to process depending
how shakey the initial clip is, how much you ask it to stabilize, and how
long the clip is.

Hello all
We talked about editing videos in iMovie. What about Final Cut Pro? I bought
it in an educational bundle when I got my macbook pro and it seems to me
that it is pretty accessible so far. However I’m not able to import a video
and I’d like to ask you why this could be. There are two ways this should
work:
1. Hitting CMD+I and chose your video files.
or
2. Drag and drop something from the finder into Final Cut Pro.
My problem with CMD+I is that I only can get to the main folders like
Macintosh HD, favorites, devices. But I’m not able to go deeper to where the
files actually are. I can’t reach my downloads folder and my video file
which I placed there. I’m i forgetting something crucial here? In other
programs I can select the folders in the sidebar and then move to the roll
area? or whatever it’s called in english and select the files in the chosen
folder there. There is such a roll area in final cut Pro but it just
contains some options like copying the video for editing or leave the file
where it is right now and other things.
So I thought copying the video in the finder and paste it in Final Cut Pro
might be easier. In Logic pro it’s possible to do exactly that. So I copied
a video file in the finder with Cmd+C and interacted with the Time Line in
Final cut Pro. But CMD+v doesn’t work either.
Has anyone of you an idea what I possibly am doing wrong? I thought I’d like
to give final cut Pro a try because the way it works in iMovie sounds a bit
complicated to me. This said I haven’t tried it so far.
I’m thinking about getting a professional video camera for recording my
concerts or rehearsal tutorial videos for my choir. But first of all, I need
to have a reliable and easy to use program to edit videos like cutting the
beginning or end, and everything else people don’t have to see and hear.
and for hand-held videos I would do I’d like to have the possibility to
stabilize afterwards.
Maybe Final cut Pro isn’t the right program for this? So, if you know about
such a program, please let me know. I wouldn’t mind a paid one.
Thanks
Ben
