Hi Rhonda,

Are you thinking of doing OCR on scanned pdf images, or reading pdf text 
documents. That will help guide the discussion.

In going between Preview on my Mac and Adobe reader on my Windows machine, I 
notice that the text is the same, but there are interpretations on how the 
blocks of text are presented. This is similar to how layout is interpretted on 
a website. Each platform handles it slightly differently.
