That's been there ever since I can remember, but there is an even faster way to get to those menus, press control+f8. This will take you to the clock, wireless menus, etc. Similarly, control+f2 will take you to the first item in the menu bar, which is usually the apple menu, and control+f3 will take you to the dock.
