[macvoiceover] New appearance in Mail

Could someone explain in simple English how/why th "favorites bar" exists?
Also, I can no longer go down a column in mail such as "from" only or
"attachments" only. Are there settings I need to adjust?
I realize this new stuff takes time getting used to.
