Try reinstalling the os. Or, you should go into system preferences, and go to accounts, and check the box that says start vo at the login screen. Hth,

On this Imac, running Leopard, I no longer hear the startup chimes. Also, if I turn Voiceover on at startup, it is silent. When I log in, VO comes up as expected. Any hints for restoring the startup sound and VO access to the login dialogue?

Thanks,

Dave
