I'm Ben from Switzerland. Music is my work. I'm playing organ, write songs,
direct choirs and so on.
I'm not really new here - I once was, about 7 years ago. But then I didn't
have a mac yet and therefore was quiete ignorant of the good things which
can be found on this OS. After behaving quiete stupid, for which I'm really
sorry, I left the list. In hindsight it was my mistake to join this list
without having at least one apple device on which I could try things out.
Last October I finally got serious and bought a MBP 15, 2017 with touch bar.
I'm really impressed about Mac OS. Unfortunatelly I didn't know about the
keyboard issues these models have. The new butterfly keyboard is spaced too
narrow, so that the smallest bit of dust and dirt can create problems. Some
keys created doubble or triple letters when I pressed them. I was told that
this is a known issue. So, my firstMBP was repaired under warranty. Then I
did apple renew and bought the older MBP 15 from 2015, the last one without
USB
That's what I have now for about three weeks. And I'm really happy. The
keyboard is so much better and the computer is even quieter, something I
really love.
Now finally, I'd like to ask you about apple mail. I really hope I do this
right so you can understand what my problems are:
1. Is there sort of a tutorial for setting the view of the inbox folder the
best way? When I configured mail a few days ago everything was wonderful. I
could hit cursor up and down and hear the name of people, the subject, date,
time and so on. But after I pressed VO+Arrow up to check other things this
isn't working anymore, ro better said not in the way I was used to it. Now I
can press VO+Right arrow to move between cells like from, subject, date,
mailbox name . When I'm par example on subject and then press arrow up or
down I hear only all subjects of the mails. But I'd like to hear just
everything : Name, subject, date, time etc.
2. I'm not sure if this is related to mail, maybe it's a braille thing. I'm
using a Baum SuperVario 40 on my MBP. When I write a longer mail the braille
display and probably the VO Cursor aren'tfollowing each other. Let me give
you an example: When i type a mistake and want to correct it by routing the
cursor to this particular wrong charakter with the braille routing keys the
braille display jumps suddenly to a totally different place in the mail.
Then I have to move manually with the arrow keys on my mac back to the
mistake and correct it this way.
Also, sometimes the braille display just displays something else on the
screen until I press a routing key. Then it snaps to where I am.
Does anybody of you know if this is just related to my particular braille
display or is there a setting in voiceover I should know so that these two
tings don't happen?
