[macvoiceover] I'm having a problem with startup disks and repairing permissions on Lion

I thought I should post this in case this isn't just a fluke that's happening to me and nobody else. I have two usb drives and a firewire drive attached to my mac mini and all of them have Snow Leopard; the hard drive alone has Lion. I went into startup disks to change to another drive to install lion there and system preferences just went busy and then said it had no windows and I eventually had to force quit applications; btw, the situation where you force quit applications but then have to go back and close force quit applications still exists. At any rate, this happened repeatedly so I decided to try repairing permissions on my lion drive even though everything else in sys prefs seems to be working fine. So now i'm running repair disk permissions and even though I have "show details" checked I'm only getting the one line that says it's repairing permissions; I'm not getting a time left indication or anything. Since stopping repair could create more problems, there's not much I can do but wait and hope everything is ok. Then I still have to deal with the startup disk problem.
