Again, I have huge playlists, and they have absolutely never taken an hour to load. This is really something other than Itunes. However, I and others have to remember that if David is happy with VLC, then that is what he needs to use. I just hate that Itunes didn't work for you, David. it is built into the Mac; it is from Apple; and it should be the standard that everything is based on as far as audio and video players in OSX. As I say, no problems here, and I have thousands of mp3's loaded and I don't know how many Audible books.I should say that this is one of the things that make our Macs so cool. If, for whatever reason you don't like a program, you can usually find an alternative that you will like. Thanks for reading. Happy Itunes user.

Do you call an hour a few minutes? If so, you must have more time on yourhands than I do. Go to applications then utilities and launch the Activity monitor. 2. In the Table of running processes delete the process called "iTunes Helper". (To delete a process tab to the quit process button and activate it once process is highlighted). 3. Go back into applications and highlight iTunes. 4. Do Command+Option+Shift+BackDelete to send iTunes to the trash where it belongs. 5. Cheer as now you have just entered audio heaven. I class iTunes in the same light as Windows Media player. Both programs are a waste of space in my opinion. Any player that can't even load a large playlist in quick time belongs in the trash. I mean even windows media player managed to load my large playlists. You shouldn't have to change any preferences to achieve this. I mean Winamp and VLC don't require it. Long live VLC on the Mac and Winamp in Windows.
