Hi, I use a little shareware app called ProLevel. It works like a digital peak meter for as many inputs you like at once. I have worked with the developer to also make it a talking peak meter, so now you can have it automatically announce when a threshold you specify is reached, and for what input. By default, the threshold is set to 0dB, but for digital recordings, I would suggest you to set the threshold to something between -10 to -5, giving you enough headroom when recording. There is a lot of other settings as well, and you can label each input or pair of inputs to customize how the announcements will be spoken. Each setup you save, represents one or two inputs, but you can have as many open at once as you like, and if you set each window to represent the same two inputs, you will have labels for each input spoken when the threshold is reached. You'll find it here: http://www.katsurashareware.com/pgs/prolevel.html Hope this helps!
