This is expected behaviour, to make something apppear on your desktop like your hd, go to finder prefs and check hard discs which is unchecked by default in sl.

Hi,

I now have three Macs in my house all running SL. I installed SL on the other two and my Desktop has items on both of them. On Friday, I bought a brand shiny new MacBook Pro 13 and after all of the normal setup stuff, my Desktop has no items on it. Is this expected behavior? If so, why?
