I installed the free App called 'Alfred' from the App store. It is also
available from the producers website.
It looks like a good app, does more than Spotlight, is activated using an
assigned hot key combination which brings up an edit text window into which you
type your request which can be to find to 'open' a file, website or App, or to
find files.

However, it is only partially accessible with VO, the drop-down box of
possibilities is not read out so you have no idea what it has found. I
contacted the producers regarding this.

I do use it to open some Apps I don't keep on my Doc and can use it to open a
Google search from any window, i.e. using the hot key to open Alfred you
immediately have a text to write your search request.

the other downer is that the preferences icon is not accessible, I had to get
someone to click that to browse its options, which I have not explored fully
yet.
