I tried it that way. I still have the same issue. I checked that my VO settings
have keyboard focus and VO cursor synchronized. I even toggled the setting with
no different result. It seems to be a general issue in Apple Mail. I did not
need to use VO for navigation in yosemite.

Just use your up and down arrow to select the message or bar and enable your
email boxes so you can see them as individuals if you want. I basically tab
over to the message area, interact and then use my arrow keys as normal.
and press enter on what you want to read. Go to the view ribbon

Huh I’ve never seen this behavior but I don’t use VO J. The only time that
I’ve seen VO lose the ability to arrow around is if you quit and reenter a
message you’re typing but a quick VO reset fixes the issue every time. Maybe
are usage methods are different enough that I’m not bumping to what you are.

I use Vo -J in Apple Mail to view the message. As soon as it opens I have to
constantly use VO with arrows to make the VO and keyboard cursors track. I
spoke with Apple after discovering this when I upgraded to Sierra and John
mentioned on the list that this situation exists. If an email has links, one
must be vary careful about making sure VO is always active while arrowing
through the email or the voiced link will not the the one you think you are
opening..

I haven’t seen this problem on Sierra or High Sierra, what view are you
using so I can try to simulate?

Hi ALl,
Is there any target date for the fixing of email navigation in Sierra? It
seems like I have to constantly reorient by starting at the top and making
darn sure I have VO active while using the down arrow. I have mistakenly
unsubscribed 3 times in the last 2 days onlinks I thought were something
else. SO annoying.
Thanks.
