[mac4theblind] Two-step Verification and Gmail SMTP Server

Hi!!
Since setting up 2-step verification in Google I've been unable to send mail in
Mac Mail. I receive it fine.
On the Google site I found that if you've not used a password in awhile you
could click something that gave you 30 minutes to use it. I did and no luck.
So I reset the application specific password for Gmail on the Mac.
Still able to receive fine but can only send by using another server. In the
account it says the SMTP server for Google is offline.
I'm all in favor of the 2-step verification but this is getting ridiculous.
Thoughts?
